On December 9th, The Golfing Dads were really lucky to be a sponsor of the Wolverine Cup, supporting Windemere High School Girls Golf Team. This was a great event at the Palm Golf Course at Walt Disney World. The former host of an annual PGA Tour event was a great place to have some fun and support an awesome cause.
The tournament was put on by Tournaments Made Easy, your tournament organization specialists. If you are looking to put on a golf tournament and are not reaching out to Tournaments Made Easy you are crazy. They will put on all of your event needs and make sure each and every event is a huge success!
The event format was a “Shamble.” This is where every player hits a drive and you select the best drive and everyone plays their own ball in from that point. The best 2 scores were kept and that was your score for the hole. We really liked the format as it protected the field from the “birdie fest” that some scrambles become.
Our team shot -3 today for a total of 141. We were 2 over on the front side and 5 under on the back. The weather this morning was a little on the chilly side for Central Florida as a cold front came through overnight and we had some on and off rain. The temperature never got out of the 50’s. The winning team shot -7. Congratulations to them as they had one of the girls from the golf team playing as a member of their foursome!
One of the cool things that they did was they had plenty of prizes for not only the top three teams but also raffle prizes. We donated an Argolf Uther Putter and were glad to see someone excited to win it. There were hats, golf balls, belt buckles, gift certificates, head covers and golf bags. The winning team each won a great event ball marker from our friends at Liberty Ball Markers! A great prize for any event!
The Golfing Dads team was well represented in the raffle. One of our teammates, Mel, won a new Nike Method Putter. Another teammate, Michael, won 2 dozen golf balls and a new hat. Steve won a new golf bag so we can see a review coming soon on that! There were so many raffle prizes it seemed as if everyone got a prize.
Dads Say So, there were a couple great take away’s from today. First and foremost, there was over $500 raised for the Women’s Golf Team! That is awesome. Any chance to give back to the community and support junior golf we are all for. Second was the fun every one had. It was a great event and even the cold weather didn’t keep the spirits down. Lastly, but definitely not least, was how awesome it was to have Tournaments Made Easy put on an amazing event. If you are looking to have someone coordinate your next tournament and are not reaching out to our great friend Matt Clinger to run your event you are crazy.
