Justin Thomas & Rickie Fowler vs Charl Schwartzel & Hideki Matsuyama
This may be the strongest International pairing with as great as both players have played all year-long and in big tournaments. They are going up against the hottest player in the Universe and probably the steadiest player on the team and they are best friends. This could be a fun one to watch but we expect the US Team to prevail in this one.
Matt Kuchar & Dustin Johnson vs Jhonattan Vegas & Adam Scott
This is an interesting pairing for the International Squad. They have put one of the most experienced players with a new comer. This is a great idea but with DJ being healthy and as steady as Kuchar is this match favors the US Team but we wouldn’t count out Scott and his determination.
Patrick Reed & Jordan Spieth vs Emiliano Grillo & Si Woo Kim
All were going to say is “WOW!” We feel like the International Team put up the sacrificial lambs up against Captain America and the Number 2 Player in the world. On paper this has an American Flag on the boards so we will see.
Daniel Berger & Brooks Koepka vs Branden Grace & Louis Oosthuizen
This could be a tough one for the USA to win. The International’s have 2 players from South Africa that could be very tough to beat. If Koepka plays like he did at the US Open it wouldn’t matter how anyone plays they will win but we think that this could be an International Flag on the board.
Phil Mickelson & Kevin Kisner vs Marc Leishman & Jason Day
This is another one of those matches that is difficult to call. As Americans we know how great Phil plays in these matches but he has not been in form recently and Kisner has been competitive but hasn’t been able to get into the winners circle. Leishman won a playoff event going away and Jason Day is Jason Day so based on recent performance we will take the International Squad in this match.
Dads Say So, based on what we see on paper we have the US up 3 to 2 after the first session. We are excited to see how the matches unfold tomorrow and we will report back tomorrow night as to the outcomes. As Nick Price said today, “In match play anything is possible.”
