If you are a professional or amateur playing a great round of golf and then backing it up with another great round is very difficult. Today Rickie Fowler found that out.
Fowler took the 18 hole lead at -7 and today shot a 1 over par 73 to put himself 1 shot back of the half way lead at -7. After 36 holes four players, Paul Casey, Tommy Fleetwood, Brian Harman and Brooks Koepka are all tied for the lead.
There is a possibility for rain overnight. This could make the golf course much softer and birdies abound on Saturday and the scores could go lower if the golf course gets a lot of water on it.
The cut tied for the lowest cut line for any US Open at +1. This is a score that the USGA likes to have as the winning score not -7 that the 36 hole cut came at.
Our favorite shot of the day came from the defending champion, Dustin Johnson. Dustin was sitting at +4 and had 299 yards into the 18th green (the hole was 676 yards today so do the math on the distance off the tee) and he hit a 3 wood that landed 10 feet from the hole and rolled off of the back of the green.
Dads Say So after 36 holes every player that made the cut actually has a chance based on the set up. The weekend is going to be fun to watch and we are really excited for the Father’s Day finish on Sunday. Sure some of the big names will not be there but this is setting up to be an exciting finish.
