We the final round began Stewart Cink, Ben Crane and Rafa Cabrera Bello were all tied for the lead at -9. There is a reason that PGA Tour events are played over 72 holes and this week was a true testament of that.
When the dry rub settled on the Rendevous Ribs in Memphis Daniel Berger shot a 4 under par 66 to finish at -10 and get the victory and defend his title in Memphis. This is a great win for him heading into the US Open!
The 54 hole leaders struggled to even shoot even par and Cabera Bello was the best of the group finishing T4 after a 1 over par round on Sunday. The big move of the day goes to Billy Horschel who shot a 64 to finish T4.
Another great story is Braden Thornberry an amateur from Ole Miss who got a top 5 finish this week thus getting him into the Travelers Championship the week following the US Open. Shooting 65 on Sunday has a way of helping you vault up the leaderboard.
Dads Say So congrats to Daniel Berger. Being the defending champ at an event is hard enough with all of the engagements that go along with just prepping for a tournament. Having a great round on Sunday to get the job done is great and shows just how tough he is. Sure it would have been a great story had one of the overnight leaders gotten the win but seeing someone from back in the pack play a great round and defend is that much sweeter.
