Due to the six plus hour rain delay they were unable to even go to the first playoff hole after Kevin Kisner made his amazing chip shot so they teams had to come back today and play their extra holes.
The playoff started on the par 5 18th hole. After both teams made par 5’s on their first playoff hole they went back to the 18th tee and made matching pars again.
The third playoff hole was the par 3 9th. On Sunday there were only 4 birdies made here all day with a difficult back left pin location. We can tell you that the 9th hole is a very difficult hole were not surprised about the lack of “2’s” that were made there on Sunday.
Both teams parred the 9th after Jonas Blixt hit a great shot just below the flag with a 5 iron and never hit the hole from 10 feet.
In the end Cameron Smith and Jonas Blixt made a great 5 foot birdie on the 4th playoff hole (18 again) and they are the winners of the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Dads Say So this is awesome for Smith and Blixt. Smith is now exempt for 2 years and gets into The Players Championship in his new hometown of Jacksonville. We love to see players get that first win so it makes their life a lot easier and they can plan a whole lot better. The playoff didn’t disappoint and it was awesome to watch on The Golf Channel. Not so long ago we would have never seen this playoff on TV as it wouldn’t have been televised!
