On Friday, the greatest three days in golf begin!  The Ryder Cup! Every two years the United States and Europe square off for a trophy, money for their charity and bragging rights for the next two years.

This year the matches will take place outside of Paris, France at Le Golf National.  The first two days will be 2 man matches of either better ball or foursomes.  Sunday will be singles matches.

Friday and Saturday will both start with fourball matches.  All of the players in each match will play out their own ball.  The player with the lowest score on the hole for his team will be the  score they use.  If that is the lowest score on the hole that team will win the hole.

In the afternoon they will play foursomes.  This is also known as alternate shot.  The teams will decide who will tee off on the even and odd holes and then will alternate shots until the ball is holed.  This format gets interesting if you put your partner in a bad spot.  If you are playing this with your friends its the quickest way to make your best friend your enemy.

The Sunday singles will be head to head 18 hole matches with the lowest score on the hole winning the hole. There is always a lot of excitement on Sunday!

The last time the US Team won The Ryder Cup in Europe was 1993.  This team is going to France on a high with Tiger Woods winning last week.  On paper, they are a heavy favorite but knowing the recent history we will be glued to our televisions watching the matches unfold and hopefully ending the drought on European soil.  America only needs 14 of the 28 available points to retain the cup!

With the matches being in France, TV coverage will begin at 2am east coast time.  This is great for those of us getting ready for work Friday morning.  We will be watching golf and chanting USA!

The matches on Friday morning will be:

Match 1

Brooks Koepka and Tony Fineau vs Justin Rose and Jon Rahm

This match is a tough one.  All four guys make a ton of birdies.  In this match, as much as I want to root for the USA team I will have to give the home soil nod to the European team.

Match 2

Dustin Johnson and Rickey Fowler vs Rory McIlroy and Thorbjorn Olesen

Did anyone see Rory hit it all over the golf course last weekend?  Im taking the USA team in this one.

Match 3

Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas vs Paul Casey and Tyrrell Hatton

This may be the most interesting match to watch all day.  Spieths form is questionable.  I think this will be a back and forth match with it ending in a draw.

Match 4

Tiger Woods and Patrick Reed vs Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood

With Tigers form of recent and being paired with Captain America this is a tough one to go against the USA.   I am going to pick them because Molinari has not played well since his hot streak in the middle of the summer that was capped off by the Open Championship.

This will put the USA up 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 after the morning session.

Dads Say So, we dont think we will be setting our alarms at 2am, our wives will kill us.  They will be set earlier than normal though so that we can catch as much action as we can!  We have our Ryder Cup and Red, White and Blue attire planned out already to show our pride this week.  If you are in your office you may want to warn your co-workers about the random outbursts and USA chants coming from your office.  Ours have already been warned.  We will be updating daily and here is to looking forward to a Team USA wire to wire victory!
