At the end of October, you may remember that we played in the NFL Alumni Central Florida Chapter’s Tournament and finished in second place, missing out on going to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl of Golf. This past Friday, we had a day to gain redemption when we were asked to play in the NFL Alumni National Chapter’s Pro Bowl Tournament.

The tournament took place on The New Course at the Grand Cypress Golf Club. This course is a replica course of many famous holes in European Golf and was designed by Jack Nicklaus.

This event had a pairings party on Thursday evening at Itta Bena at Pointe Orlando. It was a cool event that was attended by many former NFL players including SIX Hall of Fame Players. Our “friend” from the last playoff, Isaac Byrd was there, and we had some great laughs with him talking about the playoff!

Our player wasn’t there on Thursday night and he did no show on Friday morning, but that allowed us to rotate hitting an extra shot along the way. The thing is, our team was so on we never needed the extra shot. With the wind blowing 15-20 mph we knew we needed to hit it solid and take a couple chances. We even took driver off the deck on a par 5 to get a ball as close to the green as possible as it was playing dead into the wind.

When it was all said and done, we ended up shooting 56 and with our handicap it inflated our score to 56.06. As we scoreboard watched we got a little nervous when a score came in at 56.65! After all the scores were posted we could breathe easier and celebrate a little more! We won by half a shot and there was no playoff this time for us to lose out in.

Dads Say So, REDEMPTION! That is the word of the day. Getting another chance to get to Las Vegas in April for the Super Bowl of Golf was awesome and taking advantage of the opportunity was even better. To be able to go to Vegas with Mo, Matt and John and see if we can win some Super Bowl Rings (that’s the prize for the winners) is going to be amazing. You will have daily updates coming in April when take over Vegas and show the rest of the NFL Alumni who the real champs are!
