Sunday at The Presidents Cup was a formality. All the US Team needed was 1 point and it took until the 4th match to get the victory over the International Team. Sure the International Team put forth a valiant effort and made it more of a competitive match than it was for the first 3 days but it was the second fastest win ever.
Here is the breakdown of the matches.
Chappell vs Leishman Match Halved
Hoffman vs Day Day 2 & 1
Thomas vs Matsuyama Matsuyama 3 & 1
Berger vs Kim Berger 2 & 1
Kuchar vs Schwartzel Schwartzel 1 Up
Reed vs Oosthuizen Oosthuizen 1 Up
Johnson vs Grace Match Halved
Koepka vs Scott Scott 3 & 2
Spieth vs Vegas Vegas 2 & 1
Kisner vs Lahiri Match Halved
Mickelson vs Hadwin Mickelson 2 & 1
Fowler vs Grillo Fowler 6 & 4
The US Team had a chance to be the first team to win every session and win the most points of any international competition but the International Team decided to try to save face today and win all 12 matches. That didn’t happen and the US Team was victorious and the outcome really wasnt in jeopardy.
Dads Say So, while the outcome wasn’t in question today would have been better had the US Team won the session. Yes we won but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The International team played great today and won the day but they were fighting such an up hill battle that they really didn’t have a chance. 19 to 11 was closer than it should have been. This week was total domination by the US Team and it was fun to watch but we think going forward there are a lot of questions about The Presidents Cup. We may not have gotten the outcome we predicted but at least the Cup is staying on our soil. Congrats to the US Team and their victory. Lets hope a year from now we win the Ryder Cup too.
