The Myrtle Beach golf trip brought us to the Barefoot Love course. We had and awesome time playing the course and are here to tell you about it.  Click here to see our video review of our day here.

A couple things that you will find all over the course are a lot of water, sand and also all of the greens are elevated. Davis Love III designed the course to be a reminder of Pinehurst No. 2 with the greens falling off on the edges and vast chipping areas around the green.

The course opens with a dogleg left par 4 that has a gaping bunker on the left corner. The green, in its elevation plays about a half club longer.  The second hole is a dogleg left par 5 that is well protected.  Three is a good par three that is well protected and has a very undulated green.

The 4th hole is a driveable par 4 with water down the right hand side and some plantation ruins behind the green.  Steve drove the green today and 2 putted for birdie.  The 6th hole has a really unique design in using the foundations of the ruins in front of the green to add a different feature to the hole if you come up short you have to navigate the brick wall in trying to hit your chip shot.

The back nine starts with a position hole in the 10th hole but then the 11th hole is a short par three with 2 tiny greens.  Love did a great job with the design on 11.  The greens are very small and it allows the superintendent to move the flags back and forth from green to green to allow it to heal.

The rest of the back of the back nine is a lot of forced carries along the way either off the tee or on your approach shot.  It makes you hit quality golf shots to score.  The course finishes with a 3 shot par 5 that requires you to hit 3 quality shots to give yourself a chance for birdie.

Dads Say So, the Love Course at Barefoot Resort is a great test of golf that has everything you can ask for when it comes to playing a great course.  It has short par 3’s, long par 3’s.  A driveable par 4 and some long demanding par 4.  The par 5’s allow you to be aggressive and also play smart.  We really liked the course as it requires you to play every club in your bag and hit quality shots.  If you are coming to Myrtle Beach go to Barefootgolf.com and book you vacation package now.
