Going into the final round Zach Johnson and Thomas Pieters were tied for the lead at -9 with a list of players including PGA Tour winners Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Hadwin, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson and Russel Knox lurking with in 4 shots.

After the second hole Matsuyama took the lead with a chip in eagle.  From that point he never looked back.

Matsuyama shot a final round  to win by shots.  This was a clean card that included 7 birdies and the eagle on 2.  This was an amazing round that in the final round of a WGC event is awesome.

While we would like to talk about other players when you win a WGC event by 5 shots and no one else played like you did on Sunday it is hard to talk about what anyone else did.

This is Matsuyama’s third win this year and his second WGC event.  This vaulted him into the number one spot in the FedEx Cup points race.

Dads Say So congrats to Hideki Matsuyama.  We have done a lot of work recently for Cleveland/Srixon and he is one of their staffers and has played great all year.  This was an amazing round of 61 in the final round and it proves that putting yourself in contention going into Sunday and having an awesome round it very tough to beat.  It takes 4 great rounds to win on tour and Matsuyama has figured that out.  It is a great win for him and really cements himself in that group of great players on the PGA Tour.
