Normally, we don’t preview any PGA Tour event unless its a Major but there is a change this week to the format and we think it could be great for golf.
This week the Zurich Classic will be a two man team event played at TPC Louisiana. We have played this course and will say that it is a fun and difficult course with plenty of trouble lurking, and we don’t mean just the alligators on the course (there are plenty of them).
With the team event they will play two different formats during the week with alternate shot being played in the first and third rounds and better ball for the second and fourth. This course really sets up for this type of play and should be fun to watch this week.
FedEx Cup points will be available this week with the totals for every two spots being split to the team. There are no world golf ranking points handed out this week as it is a team event but playing in the event will be a treat for these guys.
This tournament is a favorite stop the players not just for the golf course but also for the food in New Orleans. If you have never been you need to go at least once to try some of the best seafood and best beignets you will ever have. Two places that are sure to be a stop for all of the players this week are Acme Oyster House (home of the char-grilled oysters) and Cafe Du Monde (best beignets ever).
Dads Say So along with this being one of our favorite courses we have played this is a great week on the tour. Steve and his wife got married outside of New Orleans and they go back there as often as they can. Were jealous of the players this week enjoying
some great food while playing a new format that the fans can really have some fun watching this week. Look out for the last 4 holes. The are very risk/reward but there is plenty of water out there to hurt a great round. 17 is a great par 3 and 18 is a demanding par 5 with Tripod the three leg alligator lurking close by. Let the good times roll in NOLA this week!
