We played Monday at Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando and have to say it was an amazing experience. If you have played Shingle Creek before you may want to go back and play it again.
Last summer Arnold Palmer Golf Course Design came in and redesigned the entire golf course and they made it amazing. The rerouted holes and gave it 18 new green complexes that make for an amazing day on the links.
The full experience begins when you pull into the course. Complementary valet parking begins the day where they take your bag and you will find it on your cart ready to go.
The pro shop is fully stocked with any and everything every golfer wants and needs. The staff couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating either. Everyone from the valet/bag drop attendant; pro shop staff; the starter and ranger; and the beverage cart staff were awesome.
The course begins with a straight away par 4 with water down the left hand side. The front 9 has amazing views on each hole and finishes with a strong par 4 that plays 505 from the back tees.
The back 9 is just as much fun as the front. Our favorite hole is 14. It is a driveable par 4 with water down the entire left hand side of the hole and a large fairway bunker in the right center of the fairway. The 17th hole is a tough par 3 with the hotel in the background. It has a large green with a lot of undulation in it that requires you to hit the ball in the correct spot on the green or else you bring 3 putt into play.
The course is still growing back from the redesign but it is in great shape. The greens are firm but a well struck shot will still check and hold the putting surface. We really enjoyed playing there.
Shingle Creek is also home to the Brad Brewer Golf Academy. If you need a full lesson or a quick fix they can take care of that for you right on the back of the driving range so you will be ready for your round.
