Today The Golfing Dads played in a very fun two man scramble here in Orlando called Monday After The Majors. It is put on the Monday after every major by the Tuck and O’Neill Show on Sports Talk 1080.
Mike Tuck and Jerry O’Neill have a drive time talk show that is on the air from 3-7 Monday thru Friday. They have been doing this event for a while now and its been very successful. Mike and Jerry keep talking about winning one of these and they have come “close” but have yet to pull it off.
The event takes place at Shingle Creek Golf Club right next to the Orange County Convention Center, home of the Annual PGA Merchandise Show. We will have a course review coming tomorrow.
The Golfing Dads were a sponsor of the event, donating koozies to all of the players as there was an open beverage cart for everyone to enjoy. We also donated an Ogio Cirrus Cart Bag that we reviewed earlier for one lucky winner as a raffle prize.
On course they did a long drive contest and two closest to the pin contests. They also had a Hyundai Santa Fe and either a Kawasaki Motorcycle or Watercraft for a hole in one on two of the par 3’s.
We had an awesome time today and ended up shooting 67. Unfortunately it wasn’t good enough to get the “W” with a 61 getting it done.
After the golf today they had a great BBQ lunch for all of the players and included a raffle with some great prizes. There was a grand prize of a 2 night stay and a round of golf for four players at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort.
Dads Say So we love playing in tournaments like this. A chance to get out meet new people and play some golf and have a lot of fun. We played some good golf today as well. Steve even drove the green on a par 4 with a 3 wood which was a lot of fun to watch. If you have a sports talk radio station that does something like this in your area we suggest you sign up for the Monday after the US Open. We know where we will be on that Monday.
