Today was the day that we have all been waiting for. Round ONE of The Masters!
The morning started with a few tears from Jack and Gary as they remembered their friend Arnold Palmer with the ceremonial tee shot. As always, it was an amazing scene, made a little more special with the tributes to honor such an amazing legacy.
There was a lot of hope that Dustin Johnson was going to tee it up at 2:03 this afternoon after hurting his back yesterday. That hope improved when he came out to hit balls on the range and then went to the first tee. For those of you who were excited to see this, your hopes were quickly removed when Dustin had a conversation and was quickly escorted through the patrons and withdrew from the tournament before teeing off.
The wind blew hard all day and there were a few players that struggled. Jordan made a nine on the 15th hole. Only 11 players broke par on a very difficult day.
When it was all said and done Charley Hoffman stood alone at the top of the leader board after an amazing round of -7 (65) to have a four shot lead going into the second round. This was an amazing round considering how many players couldn’t break par and he figured out how to get around the course making 10 birdies including four in a row on the back nine.
Dads Say So we all need to tip our hat to Charley Hoffman after his round in the conditions today. To make 10 birdies in the wind is a great feat. The tribute this morning on the first tee was awesome and very well done as expected from the club. The course is setting up for a great three more rounds until the champion is crowned on Sunday. We are already looking forward to round two!
