Steve was asked to play in a scramble at Hawks Landing Golf Club this week and had a blast. Hawks Landing Golf Club is located in Orlando, FL at the Marriott World Center.

The course is a challenging course that opens with a dog leg left par four that, like Donald Ross wanted, allows you to shake hands with the golf course. The rest of the front nine is an interesting layout with a three shot par five, a reachable in two par five and a short par four and a very difficult ninth hole with water down the left and a small target area to hit your drive to.

The back nine starts off with a short par five that is guarded by a bunker and water that makes going for the green in two much more difficult. There are three par thre
e’s on the back nine that all have water on them and club selection is important as the greens are not very large.

The finishing hole is a long par five that has a forced carry over water to start and then you have water to deal with on your lay up shot that you then have to carry on your approach shot so three quality shots are required to finish with a great score.

One of the fun things that they had set up for the scramble was a golf ball launcher. This has become a new go to item to have at scrambles. It is a cannon that is hooked up to CO2 that launches the golf ball in stead of you having to hit a drive. It is a fun way to allow everyone a chance to put a ball out there that the entire team could play.

Dads Say So that first, Hawks Landing is a great course that allows you to have a lot of fun and is a challenge. There are some really memorable holes that make this a great choice to get out and play. Secondly, we love a good scramble to get people out on a course and really enjoy your round. This one had a few bonus’ along the way that allowed you to have a mulligan, power drive (move up a tee box) and even a string that allowed you to count a putt if you hit your first one with in twelve inches of the cup. Also, kudos to Steve for winning the long drive contest !
