Orlando has many great options for golf. There are all of your go to’s when planning a golf trip here or if your in town getting out and playing a great course. One of the absolute best in the city is the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club.
You do not need to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy this masterpiece. The only thing we say is you are going to pay for what you get here. It is one of the more expensive courses in town but the experience from start to finish is well worth it.
When you arrive, the bag drop attendant is also your valet for the day. They will take your clubs and park your car so you don’t have to worry about it from there.
After checking in for your tee time you head to the driving range where the range attendant is there to assist you with keeping your clubs clean, having a nice conversation and making sure you have all of the practice balls you could ever hit.
When you get to the first tee the starter is there to welcome you to your round, give you a little bit of course knowledge and let you know that you will see 2 beverage cart attendants along the way (one circles the front and one circles the back).
When you get out on the course you quickly realize you are someplace really special. The course is perfectly manicured. The tee boxes, fairways, greens are perfect and the bunkers look amazing.
The first hole is a great welcome to the course. It is an average length par four that has bunkers left and an opening at the front of the green to allow for easy access to the green.
The second hole is a fun par three that is about 160 yards to a sloped green with water right and a bunker front right.
This tree lined course makes driving the ball straight paramount and the back nine is much more exposed to the breeze and makes club selection paramount. You need to be on your A game in order to post a great number here.
The 11th hole is their signature par three. The one up tees play about 215 yards and the green is surrounded by a massive bunker. You really need to hit a quality golf shot to find the green and with all of the slope a two putt isn’t guaranteed.
There are two holes on the back nine that are drive-able for the bigger hitters depending on
the wind. This makes for some fun risk reward situations if you are playing in a match with your buddies and someone wants to be aggressive. Just be careful as there is water lurking close on both holes and if you miss hit one shot you could find the watery grave that could cost you the match.
When you finish stop buy the 19th hole for your favorite beverage and sit out on the patio overlooking the driving range and enjoy a great view. Its one you will surely remember.
Dads Say So that if you are in Orlando and are looking for an amazing golfing experience you NEED to play at the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club. From start to finish it is what every golf course should strive to do for the greatest experience you are not soon to forget. Sure you are going to pay top dollar but it is well worth it because you defiantly get what you pay for. If your wife is along you can drop her off at the Spa for the day while you are at the course. She will thank you as it is one of the best Spa’s in the area.
